The University of Michigan also made it a tradition to play annual Thanksgiving games, holding 19 such games from 1885 to 1905. In that year, the college football teams at Yale and Princeton began an annual tradition of playing each other on Thanksgiving Day. The concept of American football games being played on Thanksgiving Day dates back to 1876, shortly after the game had been invented, as it was a day that most people had off from work. In 2022, the NFL branded the Thanksgiving games as the John Madden Thanksgiving Celebration, to honor the memory of head coach and broadcaster John Madden. Unlike the afternoon games, this game has no fixed teams. Since 2006, a third prime time game has also been played on Thanksgiving. The NFL's Thanksgiving Day games have traditionally included one game hosted by the Detroit Lions since 1934, and one game hosted by the Dallas Cowboys since 1966 (with two exceptions in 19). Since its inception in 1920, the National Football League (NFL) has played games on Thanksgiving Day, patterned upon the historic playing of college football games on and around the Thanksgiving holiday. The NFL Thanksgiving logo used for 2016 the year is updated annually, with the new NFL shield being used for the first time in 2008. The 2133's silvery keys stretch right to the edges of its chassis, but apart from the shrunken Function keys and the diddy little cursor cluster, all the alphanumerical keys are, amazingly, full-sized. We've moaned time and time again about the Eee's tiny keyboard, and it seems someone at HP has been listening. Stop trying to physically assault the Mini Note's hardy little frame and you'll find it continues to impress in other key areas. If there's anything to moan about then, it's that the HP's bulletproof frame isn't matched by the slight wobble in the display's chrome-effect hinges, but it's no deal breaker. Similarly, grab the HP's tiny lid between two hands and, barring a tiny bit of give, it's startlingly resilient. We prodded and poked at the lid as hard as we could, but to no effect. There's a little flex in the base if you really tug at it, but the display is incredibly rigid and offers the 8.9in panel plenty of protection. Compare it to the plasticky, slightly creaky frame of the Asus' Eee, and it's in a different league entirely. Tipping the scales at 1.27kg, the Mini Note weighs almost as much as the likes of fully-fledged ultraportables, such as NEC's Versa S9100 and Lenovo's X300.īut, let's be honest, 1.2kg is still far from overweight, and that weight also serves to make the 2133 feel impressively sturdy. Considering its petite 265 x 165 x 33mm dimensions, though, it doesn't feel quite as light in the hand as you might expect. Pluck the 2133 from its dumpy brown cardboard box and the magnesium alloy immediately feels classy and - more to the point - expensive. It is, without doubt, a simply beautiful laptop. Cue looks of complete and utter disbelief. We handed the 2133 to a couple of our colleagues and let them play with it for a minute or so. And, let's get this over with straightaway, it makes the Eee look and feel positively cheap in comparison. It's been a long time coming, but HP has unveiled its take on the genre with its long-awaited Mini Note 2133. There is no official India launch date or price yet.But despite several manufacturers making half-hearted attempts to recreate its success by rebadging VIA's NanoBook design, the Eee's diminutive charms have been enough to help it retain a firm stranglehold on the sub-notebook market. It sports a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD display and is powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM. Just like the original Note device, Note II is also a smartphone-tablet hybrid. Samsung had first unveiled Galaxy Note II at IFA 2012. The Galaxy Note II is currently available in India in Marble White and Titanium Grey colour options, while the S III mini is yet to launch in the country. It is likely Samsung may unveil the new colours of the devices at CES 2013, that is being held in Las Vegas from 5th to 9th January 2013. Samsung will ship the new colors in 2013. Here’s the configuration that is now used by my laptop, with ideas from Thomas Sarlandie’s Voodoo Privacy, and Gilt Tech’s post about using Docker with OS X. By configuring PF directly, the VM’s are now able to access NFS, and the system is in persistent stealth mode. After several hours learning about PF, and trying to get the VM’s to access to NFS, the system firewall was ultimately disabled. This is a problem when you only need it on a few interfaces, the VirtualBox host-only networks in this case. As I have only used my personal Mac and do not have a rich experience of managing a Mac based lab or such an environment, hence I will be writing based on. I recently upgraded to High Sierra, and as a security conscious individual, I then enabled the system firewall by visiting System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall, and clicking Turn on the Firewall. It was there where he fatally smothered the children before stuffing them into oil wells. I believe that she would have fought back and there was no sign that she fought back at all.”Ĭhris then drove his dead wife and his two children, who were still alive, to an oil site where he worked. “Shanann was a vivacious and tenacious woman. “So, I’m not sure what the truth is there but I believe he drugged her again,” she said. However, he changed his story during another correspondence to say he didn’t. Despite the fact he allegedly already thought the girls were dead, this comment enraged him enough to kill her at that moment, Cadle said.Ĭadle divulges in the show that at one point, Chris told her that he drugged Shanann that night. Shanann allegedly responded that if he were to end their marriage, he'd never see his daughters again. The father thought both Bella and Celeste were dead as he reentered the bedroom he shared with his wife and got into an argument with her about their failing relationship, Cadle said. While he didn’t admit to cheating, Chris told Shanann he no longer loved her, according to Cadle that's the same story he told the FBI. He allegedly claimed he didn’t want them to hear him murder their mother and that he planned this act ahead of time. He allegedly wrote her that he had sex with Shanann after she returned from a business trip, then as she slept he went into the girls’ bedroom to smother them. The alleged attempt was unsuccessful, though Shanann did become ill, according to Cadle.Ĭadle's allegations haven't been independently corroborated.Ĭadle said that Chris also confessed to her via letter that he attempted to murder his two daughters in their bedroom before killing Shanann. She said he told her he never wanted that baby and that it was easier to cheat if his wife wasn’t pregnant. “What he wanted her to do was for her to miscarry.” “He tried to poison Shanann with a large dose of it,” she said. She tells the producers of "Cellmate Secrets" that Chris told her during a prison visit that he drugged Shanann with oxycodone weeks before her murder. He described in horrific detail how he suffocated his children after strangling Shanann, whom he said didn’t fight back.īut now, Cadle claims that Chris has divulged even more disturbing details to her during the course of their communications. But that facade soon crumbled: it became evident that he'd been having an affair and, after the bodies were discovered, he was arrested before ultimately pleading guilty to their murders he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.įollowing his guilty plea and conviction, Chris gave the FBI a chilling five-hour interview detailing the killing of his family. Then, he attempted to play the role of a concerned husband and dad whose family had gone missing. The narrative established through investigator interviews and court documents is that he first strangled his wife Shanann, who was 15 weeks pregnant with their son, inside their Frederick, Colorado home before smothering their young daughters, Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3. The lack thereof is becoming increasingly galling. Just to be able to see all the cool stuff further on, for the motivation necessary to continue flagellating myself trying to get there legitimately. I've never been there but I'm sure appropriate places exist later in the game. So why have no saves? Why not at least put a save point where you've got the key and are about to unlock the 1st door there on level 1? And perhaps other similar places further on. Start the game, make it to the end of the dungeon, the end. But Exanima isn't Sui Generis with a whole world and a complex story, it's just a dungeon crawl. I get the no saving thing for Sui Generis, where a lot of the story revolves around the character's ability to come back from the dead. I'm sure there are many out there who feel as I do, and there's a simple solution to this problem: a more forgiving save system. I hear rumors that there's all kinds of cool stuff further along but from my POV it might as well be vaporware. It's the same damn handful of rooms and corridors, the same damn zombies, the same crappy starter gear over and over. Exanima is giving me the exact opposite of that. But seriously, how much time is a mere dungeon crawl supposed to take? Most full-blown RPGs are proud if they have even 50 hours of gameplay, so that by the time you're halfway through that, you've seen and done a lot of different things, you feel like you're actually making some progress. I've only been here a couple months and have only 23 hours of playtime. Now, Exanima and SG have been in work for years, and many of those currently in this forum have been with it from the get-go, or at least as long as contributions were open. When either happens, it's back to the beginning again. It just takes 1 mistake to ruin your game, and even if you do everything right you can still get screwed by chance events. It's just that it's so prone to random variation and so unforgiving when you're on the short end of that. After all, I do reasonably well in the arena and can take down zombies with fair success. It's not that I think Exanima's combat system is all that hard in and of itself. I'll keep trying, but the desire to do so is fading fast due to endless, will-sapping repeats of stuff I've done already dozens of times, and the sheer frustration of having to repeat (AGAIN!) so much stuff to even have a chance at seeing something new. From where I sit, I'll never, ever see any of the new content. To which I think, "Whoop-dee-doo", because I can't even get respectably far into the 1st level. Seriously, I hear the next update adds all kinds of wonderful stuff after the end of the current 3rd level. Repeat ad nauseum, and it's the ad nauseum part that's getting me down. Then there's nothing for it but to repeat all the stuff that gets you the key again. So you do all that (maybe-it's never a sure thing) and open the locked doors, and the hostility factor steps up a couple notches. Then retrace all you steps back through it which can be, depending on luck of the totally random draw on wandering zombie placement, even harder than getting the key to begin with. To open the locked doors on level 1, you have to sneak/fight/think your way through a fairly large amount of dungeon to get the key, plus whatever fixed items/lore/random chest contents/known zombie equipment you consider worth risking your life for. Which by now I'm finding intensely frustrating. I have yet to get more than a room or 2 beyond the main locked doors on the 1st level. If I didn't really like the game, I wouldn't have put in this amount of time for what is merely practice for the actual game, which is the dungeon. I routinely beat the novice arena now and sometimes the expert arena. I'd say that's probably split about 60%-40% arena to dungeon. Still a noob, yes, but I've been here in the forums a while and Steam says I've played Exanima 23 hours. OK, I think I've been around here long enough now not to be dismissed as a completely uninformed noob. I'm not hating on the game, I'm giving what I consider is probably a fairly common opinion of Exanima, FWIW to the devs. But repect the right of folks to have opinions different from yours. You opinion is almost certainly different, which is cool. |
